Afternoon Tea

I did some post-graduate study in England, where I became a great fan and student of Afternoon tea.  Occasionally it’s necessary to go back and do more research… I did a  200 mile solo Coast-to-Coast walk across Northern England recently, and found terrain much more wild & wooly than one would ever expect, but also carved out several opportunities for the comfort and civility of teatime.

The Basic Tea

Minimum group size is 12

$21 per person, inclusive

An assortment of teas, ice water, and a lovely crystal bowl of punch

Assorted scones with Jams and Clotted Cream

Finger Sandwiches

(Choose three)

Tuna-Tarragon, Turkey & Cranberry, Chicken Waldorf, Watercress, Egg Salad, Tomato & Basil, Smoked Salmon & Dilled Cream Cheese, Open-Faced Cucumber

Dessert
(Choose One)

Individual English Trifles(berry or brownie),  Chocolate Decadence, Fruit Crisp, Berry Cheesecake, Decorative Seasonal Fruit Arrangement, Lemon Squares

Other Options: upgrade to a Rockwell‘s Creative Cake for $2 extra, or bring dessert from the bakery of your choice , deduct $1, and we‘ll still cut and serve it for you)

Any of the following can be added for $2 per person:

Hot Dish

Dainty Finger-Quiches, Traditional Sausage Roll, Fresh Vegetable or Bacon-Artichoke Frittata, Chicken & Broccoli in a Pastry Wreath, Mushroom Profiteroles,
Savory Chicken Crepes (add $3 per person)

or

Salad

French Inn House Salad, or Signature Salad (ask me) Cobb Salad, or Premium Fresh Fruit Arrangement

We always allow a minimum of three hours so there’s no need to rush; that would be a crime!  Our teas are generally served buffet-style, with dessert as a separate course. We find this arrangement to be very congenial and conducive to animated conversation, but if you prefer we can bring plate-stackers to your table in the traditional way.   Seating is available in our parlor, under our vine-covered arbor, or on the lawn under market umbrellas, depending on the size of your party and the time of year. Special dietary needs can also be accommodated with advance notice. We look forward to making your event a very personal and memorable experience.
