Welcome to The French Estate, where history and romance intertwine to create unforgettable memories for couples celebrating their special day.
Nestled in the heart of Orange, our venue boasts a rich and storied past that adds a unique charm to every wedding celebration.
Originally built in 1895 as a Queen Anne Victorian, our elegant estate underwent a transformation in 1917 that would shape its distinctive character to this day. Renowned banker John Porter spearheaded a remodel, inspired by the Spanish Colonial Revival architecture, infusing the property with timeless allure and grandeur. Eager to showcase his prosperity, Porter introduced modern amenities such as electricity and plumbing, elevating the estate to a symbol of luxury and sophistication.
Among Porter's additions were the majestic palm trees that still grace our grounds, standing as a testament to his vision and opulence. These iconic trees would later play a role in the charming history of our venue, as they became the backdrop for Mrs. French's endeavors.
Mrs. French, the subsequent owner, recognized the allure of the estate and its picturesque setting. Leveraging the romantic ambiance of the venue, she embarked on a venture to spread love and sweetness throughout the community. Inspired by the beauty of the estate and the spirit of romance, Mrs. French began selling Valentine's date candies to local residents, creating a tradition that would endure for generations.
The legacy of love and hospitality continued with the namesake of our estate, Judge French. As a respected figure in the community, Judge French was known for his commitment to justice and compassion. Moved by the desire to support young couples embarking on their journey together, Judge French opened his home to offer a venue for weddings. Couples of all ages and backgrounds were welcomed to exchange vows in the warm glow of the fireplace, surrounded by the timeless elegance of the estate.
Thus, the legacy of The French Estate was born—a sanctuary where love knows no bounds and where every love story is honored and celebrated. Named in homage to Mrs. French and Judge French, our venue stands as a beacon of romance and inclusivity, inviting couples to write the next chapter of their love story within its historic walls.
